Twin Lakes 2011

Twin Lakes is one of our favorite places to go camping. We try to make it at least once every summer, if not more. Well, we didn't make it last year so we had to go this one. With a baby on the way, we went a little bit earlier in the year than usual. We had fabulous weather. It was warm and sunny. But, we paid for it in the fishing department. Usually, we catch Bluegill constantly. You almost can't keep them off the hook. This year, we caught a few trout and a bass or two, and only one bluegill. The bluegill and bass are our favorite to eat and were really looking forward to stocking the freezer! Oh well, we had a lot of fun anyways! Josh and Trevin were building sand castles by the water. Josh would fill his bucket with dirt and dump it out to make his. Trevin would use his shovel to make a mountain of dirt, then he would turn his empty bucket over on top and tap it like he was getting the sand out. It was so cute. They had a blast!

The first night, Megan and I had the boys on shore while our husbands were out fishing. It was getting cold, Brian hadn't shown up yet with the camper or firewood, so we gathered a pile of twigs to get a fire going. I used a little blow torch thing with some paper plates and we got a fire going, praying that it would last until Brian showed up. Well, our neighbor campers took pity on us and brougt over enough wood to last until the rest of our party arrived. I think they just got a laugh watching us build our fire, but we were grateful anyway!

We were roasting marshmallows for smores and Josh kept looking away because it was too hot on his face. But, they enoyed the treats!

Josh, Trevin and Talan carried sticks (aka guns) around the entire weekend. They shared and fought over the right "gun" but they had fun. Trevin is shooting something, not really sure what it was this time!

Kyle finally got to use his float tube he got for his birthday a couple of years ago and let all of the boys have a ride. They thought that was the coolest thing!

Mom was trying to tan the back of her legs and Trevin insisted on laying by grandma. So, they played in the dirt and had fun!

Almost everyone had to leave on Sunday, except us and mom, so we got everyone else on the road and were getting ready to go out on the boat fishing when the infamous Twin Lakes wind came. We waited for a couple of hours for it to die down as it usually does. Well, it didn't look like it was going to as the night got later and later. So we decided to just pack up and go home because we had to check out of our site fairly early on Monday anyway and we couldn't fish tonight anyways. Here is Josh helpinig Daddy load the boat. He is winding the cord that pulls in the boat. By the time we had the tent down and everything loaded, the wind was completely gone, not so much as a breeze. Go figure. We had a great camping trip and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with family before our new addition arrives.
