We did Christmas backwards this year. It is a sad story, but true. Kyle works nights, and he was scheduled to work Christmas Day for a day shift (not happy about that). So, we came in from town in the afternoon of Christmas Eve Day. We spent the afternoon opening our Christmas presents because Kyle had to work from 7 am to 7 pm on Christmas day. Which meant, that we would have to get our children up at 4 am to open presents if we did it on Christmas day. We opted out of that one. We had a fun time opening gifts, missing the magic of Christmas morning. We went to my parents house for Christmas Eve traditions and party and came home later that night. Well, my boys were the best kids on the whole planet because Santa got to stop at our house the very first stop. He had already been to our house when we got home. The boys were pretty excited that Santa came to our house very first.
The boys and I spent Christmas Day at my parents house and Daddy came over when he got off of work and we spent the evening as a family. It was very untraditional, but when you don't have a choice, you do what you have to do. We made the best of a sour situation and had a fun Christmas anyways.
